With this article I want to discuss how selected indie Vtubers push the boundaries of the bubble in creative ways, while the large corporations remain on well-trodden paths. I will introduce 2 – 3 different indies, their stream concepts and aesthetics, in order to show that there is much more potential for both indies and small agencies than many people seem to realize. I want to show that Vtubing can be much more than anime avatars and idol culture. I also found an interesting story-focused agency, but they’re just starting out and have no active streamers yet. I’m keeping my eye out for them and might write about them in the future.
